Lepe Country Park Blog
It’s an exciting time for Lepe with ambitious plans to improve the country park along the New Forest coast. A £2.7m programme starting in 2017 will provide more modern facilities, including a new glass-fronted visitor centre, enhanced landscapes, more play equipment and better car parking. The works will highlight nature’s gifts with over a mile of beach, pine fringed cliffs, wild flower meadows and stunning views across the Solent. The project team will provide regular updates on what’s new through this blog. Please send any feedback to email@example.com.
Wildplay, den building and seashore safaris
Welcome to our 3rd blog post. As you many have noticed if you’ve visited over the last couple of weeks, the construction team has started on the groundworks. The most obvious change is to the parking. Now the hoarding is up, we’re asking visitors to park beyond this area. Signposts will direct you in and around the car park but please take care. A footpath now runs alongside the wooden beach embankment for pedestrians to use.
As well as the changes you’ll see to the beach car park entrance, we’re also about to start work on improving the drainage around the top car park to make it more accessible to you all year round.
An exciting focus for the team over the coming weeks will be the installation of the new play equipment. We’re refreshing the toddler climbing frame, providing better swings and bringing in a new “glider” piece for some of the older children to play on. The glider lets children with an adventurous side glide through the air on a wire. We’ll also have some children friendly seating areas and some extra balance posts – all coming together in a woodland themed extravaganza.
We’re really looking forward to launching this with you on Saturday 8 April so the more the merrier to the park to kick start your Easter holidays! As well as our new play area, we have lots of “wildplay” activities on offer across the park, from den building to seashore safaris, you can find out more from the team in the office – or check out our “Wildplay Wander” event on Monday 10 April – more info on the website.
Finally and just to reassure you, the Park is open as usual. We have a host of events and activities lined up for you throughout the Spring and into Summer and the café is open to purchase all your favourite seaside treats!
As always, if you have any comments or suggestions you can get in touch with us via email firstname.lastname@example.org or if you’re down at Lepe you can pop in to the office to chat to the team.
