We made the journey to Lepe and arrived at 6.28pm (although the ticket states 13:28!)- Not an unreasonal time of the day for this time of the year. The car park was still open and a training exercise was in full swing - no sigss of packing up. Before paying for the ticket, however, it did state that the car park closed at 6pm, but as it was still busy with other families, and considering the time of year, we assumed that this must clearly have been an oversight in the fact that the 6pm closure sign was still up. We often come here in the summer evenings in the past years and have never encountered such an early closing tome as this before. WHY, OH WHY, THEN DID WE FIND OURSELVES BEING BOOTED OUT FROM THE CAR PARK AT 7PM? The Park Ranger informed us that if we were quick we would be able to park in the bottom car park before he locked thoese gates for the evening (where he promptly drove his van back to the botton car park and locked it - THANKS!) He gave us no time to pack away out things. We were all very upset by the whole of this affair. Although it does say on this web page to check for closure times, it also states that it shuts at 'dusk'.

We are sorry you had a disappointing evening at Lepe with your family and thank you for bringing this to our attention. Lepe Country Park is open from 7.30am every day of the year. Our closing time changes with the seasons but currently is 8pm. I will review the wording on the website to clarify this. The rangers will be reminded to only close the gates at the time stated and the signage will be checked and updated. I will also ensure that the pay and display machines are checked and mended if necessary to ensure that tickets issued show the correct time.

I come down quite regaluar and i always have a great time with the kids along the beach and up the top also have nice meals however find that the Tourist infomation is always closed. i poped down and needed change for the car park, where can i get this? i mean the cafe cant change money for the car park, WHY? they say to go to the rangers office so i do but was closed. On the door it says that they are open all day till around 5, well this was 12pm? i also went down couple of weeks ago now, to ask a question and once agian, closed! where can i get infomation and change? for infomation online is limited i need to speak face to face.

Lepe replies

I am sorry that you haven't managed to coincide with staff at the park office. Whenever possible we try to keep this manned between 9a.m. and 4p.m. but we have very few staff and they may be called away from the office at times.

This is particularly difficult at weekends when we only have one duty ranger at the park. They cannot be at the office all day but do leave a mobile phone number on the door so they can be contacted.

With the current recruitment freeze and the tight budgets that the County Council, along with all local authorities, is experiencing we are unlikely to be able to improve the office cover in the short term other than through help from volunteers. If you know of anyone who would be interested in doing reception work at the park at weekends please get in touch.

Spend most of my time at Lepe Beach, Today my Grandchildren joined me to do the Easter Egg hunt, What a great time we had, I saw parts of Lepe I have never seen. We had an amazing time. Kids enjoyed looking for the eggs, Had loads of fresh air, and are now fast asleep.

A HUGE THANK YOU to the Cafe,Yummy Meals!!

We popped down on our bikes on Sunday and the place was jam packed. We ordered meals knowing it would take a little while due to the amount of people in the cafe,but it was MORE than worth the wait!!!

We had fish and chips,Lasagne and chips (which came with a side salad),and the kids had the kids fish fingers,chips and beans.It was all well presented and Hot... We will be going down again for meals as the prices where a lot cheaper than we had expected... And as for the staff... A+++++ What a friendly bunch of girls!!!! Would not be surprised if they get Head Hunted!!! You Don't find many places these days where the staff actually Bother to make conversation let alone SMILE.Smiles and laughing aplenty... Made for a lovely atmosphere... Very Clean and tidy even tho they where run off their feet... Great place to eat!!!

I visitied the beach over the weekend with my friends, sunday 12th march 2012,and were a really nice day. The cafe were really busy and i just wanted to buy a small item from the shop. i had to que for a while waiting for other people to buy meals/drinks. Is it possible to buy the items form the shop somewhere else? Just to say a well done for the staff that worked hard as an well clean enviroment even though were very busy!

Me and my husband regularly go to Lepe beach for a walk and visit the cafe everytime. Staff in cafe are always so friendly and always laughing and smiling every single time we go in, even when they have difficult moany people when we are in the queue. Cafe is always nice and clean and cafe has a lovely view of the sea! Just a shame the cafe is not open all year around??

I love lepe beach and everyone that works there is so nice and welcoming i wish i went there more and even wish i worked there.

I regularly visit Lepe Cafe and must say the cafe staff are extremely friendly and helpful. In addition the cafe itself is always very clean and tidy. Lepe Cafe is a credit to the Council. Well done all concerned.

I am a regular customer to lepe beach cafe, always great service staff very friendly and welcoming. never disapointed. makes a good family day out.
