Checklist Information for Teachers
Before Your Visit:
All educational group visits, both Self-guided or Staff Led Special Activities, must be booking in advance. This can be done by telephoning our Booking Officer on 01489 772811.
If booking a Staff Led Special Activity session it is strongly advised that teachers attend a pre-visit planning session with our Heritage and Community Engagement Officer on 01489 772812.
We recommend that you visit Manor Farm and Country Park prior to your intended sessions, to enable you to both familiarise yourself with the farm and to carry out your own risk assessments.
Please ensure that all teachers and adult helpers accompanying your party are properly briefed regarding their responsibilities prior to your visit.
There is free coach parking for all school educational visit vehicles.
The farm is situated within Manor Farm and Country Park, the main entrance to which is at the end of Pylands Lane, near Bursledon; half a mile from Junction 8 of the M27. Manor Farm and Country Park is signposted from the motorway. However when planning your arrival times please note that the farm itself is situated a further 2 miles (approximately 8 minutes) beyond the park entrance. Please also allow time for checking in at the farm reception and use of the toilets.
On arrival, the group leader should report to farm reception for checking in and payment. A storage area is available in the farm reception theatre for lunch boxes and bags etc, which are left at the owner’s risk. Reception staff will direct you as necessary. If you are undertaking a Staff Led Special Activity session, our Education Staff will meet you at reception.
During Your Visit:
You are responsible for the safety, well-being and disciple of your children at all times, including during Staff Led Special Activities and particularly for Self-guided activities. If safety, wellbeing and disciple of children is not adhered to then Manor Farm and Country Park have the right to refuse a school visit.
Immediate supervision (i.e. every child must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times), is required for all children up to the age of 18.
In the event of a minor first aid incident please make your way to the main reception. In the event of a more serious incident please contact the nearest member of staff.
In the event of / discover a emergency situation please contact a member of staff immediately.
After Your Visit:
You will be asked to complete an evaluation form for yourself and your class. We value any feedback or suggestions from our visitors.
