Shortheath Common Consultation on Future Management - next steps

The results from the first round of the consultation on the future management of Shortheath Common, carried out in 2011, have now been collated and are available in the report Shortheath Common - report on public consultation and recommendations for management. Based on these results, the consultants facilitating this process - Footprint Ecology - have made recommendations to Hampshire County Council, the owners and managers of Shortheath Common. The recommendations, the County Council's responses, and the proposals that will be the basis of the second stage of consultation can be viewed by selecting the documents below.

Hampshire County Council is seeking the best solutions for the future management of the Common and the widest consensus on how this can be achieved. Please help us by giving your views on the proposals outlined in the documents above. Please note that larger scale maps of particular areas can be requested by contacting Susanne Frost on 02392 476411, and will be available to view at the drop-in event on Saturday 20 October 2012 at Oakhanger Village Hall, detailed below.

We are particularly keen to hear from all who live on or close to the Common or visit it regularly, as you may have a particular interest in the proposals for continued management of this important area. We would welcome these views either by e-mail to jim.white@footprint-ecology.co.uk or in writing to:

We hope to complete this stage of consultation by 17 November 2012.
