Clothing Collection and Recycling
A new agreement is now in place with Recycling Projects UK for the collection and recycling of unwanted clothing, textiles and paired shoes from schools.
In the United Kingdom, households throw away over 1,000,000 tonnes of clothing and textiles of which 500,000 tonnes could be recycled and re-used in Africa, Central Asia and Eastern Europe. Recycling Projects UK provides a complete recycling scheme for all reusable clothing and shoes.
Have a clear-out and help your school
It’s brilliant for everyone! The environment benefits, your local school gets additional funds from Recycling Projects UK, your children learn about recycling, and you help people less fortunate than your family. Recycling Projects UK will collect and recycle all types of:
- Unwanted clothes

Help others to re-use your unwanted items
Recycling Projects UK works with Eastern European Recycling and Sorting Centres on both a commercial and charitable basis. The textiles are delivered from the UK, expertly sorted and distributed to countries such as Belarus, Romania, Poland, Azerbaijan, Mongolia, Albania, Botswana, Uganda, Sudan and Congo.
- Over 1,500,000 pairs of shoes are thrown out that could be used by somebody else.
- Recycling of clothes, paired shoes, handbags and other textiles helps prevent global warming and protects the environment from pollution.
- The used clothes and used textiles industry worldwide supports hundreds of thousands of people by providing them with an income and provides countless other families with quality clothing, bedding and shoes that they otherwise would not have.
- Recycling is good for your environment now and for generations to come.
