Nursery milk scheme – confirm your deliveries before you break up for summer
Over the last year schools, pre-schools and nurseries have done an excellent job confirming the number of children drinking milk each week. With the summer holidays coming up it is critical that you continue to do this right up to the summer holidays and that you confirm your last milk deliveries on the LAST DAY of term before you break up. All those that do will be entered into a prize draw, run by supplier Cool Milk, with 50 lucky schools and nurseries winning a £50 prize.
It is a requirement of the Department of Health that Cool Milk only claim for the milk actually delivered to your setting, and they can only do this if you confirm what the local milk man has left for you each day.
It cannot wait until September because Cool Milk can only claim back the money for the milk delivered once you have confirmed you have received it. Waiting six weeks over the summer holidays would be too long a time to wait for confirmation and put at risk the ability for Cool Milk to pay the local milkman what he/she is rightly owed. Confirming on the last day of term will:
- make certain the local milkmen can be paid promptly
- ensure deliveries can commence again when children return in September
- protect the integrity of the claims
- ensure 100% accuracy with the NMRU.
Please note that you cannot confirm your milk deliveries before the last day of term. This is because you cannot confirm the number drinking milk before the milk is actually delivered by the local dairy, which for most settings won’t happen until the last day.
