The Importance of Phonics
A catalogue of systematic synthetic phonics products and training
The Government is committed to raising standards in literacy. Getting the fundamentals right at an early age, in particular teaching children to read through systematic synthetic phonics, will help to ensure that children leave school with a lifelong love of reading and the necessary skills to succeed in life.
Match-funding is now available and County Supplies is working in partnership with ESPO to supply a catalogue of DfE approved systematic synthetic phonics products and training. Match-funding is available up to 31 March 2013 for all state funded schools in England with Key Stage 1 pupils, including Academies and Free Schools.
All items and training listed in the catalogue are suitable for use with Key Stage 1 pupils and have been assessed as meeting the Department for Education’s ‘Core Criteria’ for Assuring High-Quality Phonic Work.
How to Access Match-Funding
Schools are free to decide which products, resources or training best meet their requirements and are able to make as many individual purchases as they wish up to the maximum match-funding of £3000 (i.e. a total spend of £6000).
For schools who are not eligible for match-funding or have used up their allocation, resources can be purchased at the catalogue list price.
The DfE is not providing funding direct to schools. Schools will only be able to access the match-funding by purchasing from the catalogue.
How to Order
Eligible schools should have received a catalogue produced by ESPO on behalf of County Supplies and all CBC and Pro5 members. The catalogue contains details of the resources and training available and full details of how to place your order. ESPO has been provided with a list of all schools including their DfE number which will be the key to accessing the match-funding.
