Start  Farley Mount Country Park, Crab Wood car park. 2½ miles west of Winchester on the Sarum Road, off Chilbolton Avenue. Grid ref. 433 293.

A challenging route easily accessible from Winchester.The trail travels through the small hamlet of Farley, with its unusual church, and follows the edge of Parnholt Wood plantation into Ashley Down.The route continues north through Ashley and the Sombornes, returning via Sparsholt and Dean.
