The Queen's Diamond Jubilee Celebrations

Plans are well underway both nationally and in Hampshire to commemorate and celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Marking 60 years of the Queen’s reign the celebrations will culminate in an extended holiday weekend from 2 – 5 June 2012.

Nominate a ‘diamond’ volunteer for the Service of Thanksgiving

The search is on for people in Hampshire who have given 60 years of voluntary service to take part in a special Service of Thanksgiving.

Taking part in the celebrations

Hampshire County Council and the Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire are encouraging people and organisations in Hampshire to commemorate and celebrate the Queen's Diamond Jubilee. It is anticipated that young and old as well as voluntary groups, businesses, the Armed Forces and local authorities across Hampshire will take part.

In the early stages of planning are a Winchester Cathedral Service of Thanksgiving; projects with schools, museums and libraries; sporting events involving the University of Winchester and the Armed Forces; involvement with our country parks.

We want to display all the Hampshire Diamond Jubilee events on our site so everyone can see what's happening in their area. You can add yours by submitting it to our online events system. It only takes a few minutes! Just remember to select 'The Queen's Diamond Jubilee' category when you complete the online form.

There is plenty of guidance to help communities organise street parties and celebrate the Diamond Jubilee.

A special bank holiday

There will be a special bank holiday for the Diamond Jubilee. The 2012 late May bank holiday will be moved to Monday 4 June 2012 and an additional Jubilee bank holiday will be on Tuesday 5 June 2012.

Festivities across the nation

Celebratory activities will take place throughout the United Kingdom and across the Commonwealth. There will be a co-ordinated programme of events centred around the extended weekend. This will include a Big Jubilee Lunch, a Diamond Jubilee Pageant on the Thames, a concert at Buckingham Palace and the lighting of 2012 beacons across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth. The Queen and other members of the Royal Family will also attend a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral.
