Dog walking in Hampshire

You and your dog are welcome at most of our countryside sites and country parks. We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable visit to the countryside so please behave responsibly and observe any relevant signage.

Alabama Rot – unexplained dog illness

Alabama Rot is an often fatal disease affecting dogs which can cause skin lesions and/or kidney failure. Since December 2012 cases have been reported in many different counties across the UK including Hampshire. Although reports come from people who have walked their dogs in the countryside the cause of the disease remains unknown.

It is important to remember that of the many thousands of dogs are walked in the countryside every day only a very small number of dogs have been affected.
