Eastleigh Museum for families
Why not spend a hour or so at the museum with your children!
There are plenty of things for families to do as you visit the museum and special exhibition's gallery.
There is always a museum trail with hands-on activities. At the moment you can follow our Smelly Trail and you can sniff your way around the museum following the pungent aromas of Eastleigh's past as you discover more about the town's history.
We also run a regular programme of family friendly and free craft days with drop-in make and take activities that run every school holiday which you can all take part in and have fun together.
Inspired by our collections, local history or changing programme of exhibitions, there is plenty to do and always something new!
Babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers
For families with babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers, we have ‘Ernie the Engine under 5s Club’ every Friday during the school term – check ‘What’s On’ for dates and times. These 30 minute hands-on sessions for parents and carers to enjoy with their children have a range of activities including craft, stories, songs and a chance to explore the museum's displays and exhibitions.
All children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
Nursery Rhyme Bag
You can also come along anytime to pick up a Nursery Rhyme Bag, filled with sounds, pictures, toys and things to do relating to famous nursery rhymes so you can sing, read and learn together.
The bags are free to use whenever you’re visiting (try afternoons to avoid visiting school groups), and they are changed every six weeks so there is always something new. Pop in and ask at the Reception desk.
