What is the Post 14 prospectus?
There is a statutory requirement from the Department for Children, Schools and Families (now the DfE), for a '14-19 Area Wide Prospectus' to be in place during the Autumn Term 2007.
The DCSF states that the prospectus will:
- "widen choice for young learners by making the local learning market transparent and allowing young people to make informed choices about what is best for them."
- "provide independent, impartial and high quality information on options to young people, their parents and advisers."
- "provide an excellent means of updating, reviewing and progressively enhancing the relevance and effectiveness of the local offer to young people."
- "show how partnerships of schools, colleges and training providers will deliver the new 14-19 entitlement to specialised Diplomas, as described in the Education and Inspection Bill 2006."
- "encourage participation in education post-16."
