Applying for a place in a Hampshire school

Important dates to remember

Starting school (Year R) and transferring to junior school (Year 3)

By Friday 21 November 2008 (by 12 o’clock midday) parents must return the application form:

  • for Year R (CR2) to their first preference infant or primary school or apply on-line.

  • for transfer to junior school (CJ2), to their present infant school or apply on-line.

Friday 23 January 2009 - Single Offer Date

All parents will be sent a letter (by first class post from Hampshire County Council) telling them the name of the school at which their child has been allocated a place. Individual schools will not be able to inform parents of the outcome of their application

Transfer to secondary school (Year 7)

By Friday 24 October 2008 (by 12 o’clock midday) parents must have applied on-line or ensure that the common application form (CAF) is received:

  • by their child’s current school or

  • by the admissions team if the child attends an independent school or a school in another authority.

Monday 2 March 2009 - Single Offer Date

All parents will be sent a letter (by first class post from Hampshire County Council) telling them the name of the secondary school at which their child has been allocated a place.

Individual schools will not be able to inform parents of the outcome of their application.

If you are applying to an aided or foundation school, please read carefully the primary and secondary information sections .

If you are applying for a school in another authority, you must get that authority’s brochure to ensure that you have all the information you need for that application.
