Leaving school

Children whose 16th birthday is between 1 September 2008 and 31 August 2009, will officially leave school on the last Friday in June 2009 (26 June 2009). They will not be able to be employed until after that date.

When a school term starts after 1 September, a pupil may be entitled to leave at the end of the previous school year, if they have had their 16th birthday before the start of the new term. It is essential that you discuss this first with the school.
