Applying for a place in a Hampshire school

School security

All Hampshire schools are safe, secure and caring places and your child’s safety and welfare will be of the greatest importance.

In every school, there is always at least one teacher who knows your child well. Usually, this person will be his/her class teacher or form tutor. You can talk to the teacher, other senior members of staff, or headteacher if you have any concerns about your child’s welfare. You must follow the school’s policy on appointments.

Each school has a member of staff nominated as the child protection liaison officer. Schools have policies on general behaviour including verbal or physical violence, bullying, rewarding pupils’ achievements, drugs, health and safety, school security – all of which are designed to keep your child safe and well. The school will be able to tell you about these policies and will need your support and help in carrying them out.
