Consultation on Hampshire's School Admission arrangements for Community and Voluntary Controlled schools for 2013/14

Your views wanted

Hampshire County Council is consulting with parents, schools and other local authorities on its proposed admissions arrangements for Community and Voluntary Controlled schools in its administrative area, for September 2013.

What are the proposed changes?

The changes being proposed are as follows:

  • Introduction of a 'Children of staff' criterion in the Primary and Secondary school admission policies, below children living outside the catchment area with a sibling on roll at the school.   • Introduction of a 'children attending the linked infant school' criterion for Gomer Junior School, Liphook Junior School, Manor Junior School, Merdon Junior School, Oakley Junior School, Peel Common Junior School, Purbrook Junior School, Ranvilles Junior School and Weyford Junior School;

  • Removal of the school specific criterion reserving 2 places in Year 3 at East Meon CofE Primary School for children living in the catchment area of Froxfield CofE Infant School and attending that school;

  • Changes to some schools' Published Admission Numbers.

How can I respond to the consultation?

The consultation on these proposals will run for eight weeks, from Wednesday 21 December 2011 to Friday 17 February 2012. Responses to the consultation must be sent to Ros Capey at the Children's Services Department. Tel: 01962 845810, email:rosalind.capey@hants.gov.uk.

What happens next?

The closing date for the consultation is Friday 17 February 2012. Responses will be collated and presented to the Council's decision-making Cabinet on 23 March 2012 and will be ratified on that date. Once determined the final admission arrangements will be published on this website.

Admission arrangements for voluntary aided schools, foundation schools and academies are also subject to consultation and copies can be obtained from the relevant school, who will advise you of arrangements for responding to their consultation.
