What is the DAAT?


The Hampshire Drug & Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is a multi-agency partnership, responsible for the local implementation of the Government's ten year drug strategy 2008 - 2018: 'Drugs: protecting families and communities'. The strategy focuses on 4 key areas:

  • Protecting communities through robust enforcement to tackle drug supply, drug related crime and anti-social behaviour

  • Preventing harm to children, young people and families affected by drug misuse

  • Delivering new approaches to drug treatment and social re-integration

  • Public information campaigns, communications and community engagement


What is the DAAT Support Team?


The DAAT Support Team are responsible for commissioning and coordinating high quality substance misuse services across Hampshire. It achieves this by working in partnership with all those concerned in reducing the harm caused by substance misuse to individuals, their families and communities.

FREE Mephedrone Briefings

A number of mephedrone briefings have been organised by Hampshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team in partnership with Innovation with Substance and Catch22 in response to a large number of enquiries from a range of practitioners regarding this drug and it's use by young people.

These FREE briefings are aimed at practitioners working with young people, will be delievered in venues across Hampshire and will last 2 hours.

Each briefing will cover:

*What is mephedrone (including its rise in popularity)

*What we think we know (acute effects and chronic effects)

*What we don’t know

*Current legal status of mephedrone and similar drugs

*Harm reduction advice

*Treatment options – Including input from Catch22

*Where next for legal highs?

*Questions
