Hampshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team (DAAT)

Communities

The principal duties of the DAAT Communities Manager are to oversee and manage the DAAT community and availability agendas, within the National Drugs Strategy. This is achieved by contributing to the development and delivery of the strategic priorities and targets, which are integrated into the local community strategies, community safety strategies and continuing development of local initiatives.

The role entails working with 11 district Crime & Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRP), within Hampshire; supporting and advising in tackling drug related issues and promoting harm minimisation. The links between substance misuse and crime are well documented and, consequently the Crime & Disorder strategic assessments must include an audit of drugs issues in their area. This is supported by bringing together multiple funding streams which increases the flexibility for our partnerships to deliver agreed local and national outcomes.

Drug and Alcohol Reference Groups

Across Hampshire there are 9 Drug and Alcohol Reference Groups (DARG), which support the local implementation of DAAT priorities and plans, in line with the four themes of the National Drugs Strategy. The DAAT Communities Manager manages the relationships and communication between the CSP/CDRP – DAAT – DARG, to augment the implementation of DAAT – DARG priorities.
