Treatment Outcome Profiles - (TOP)

TOP is the drug treatment outcome monitoring tool that has been developed by the National Treatment Agency in partnership with substance misuse treatment providers. The tool was developed with three aims in mind:

  • To provide a tool that is clinically useful, that can add value to the important work that is done between the client and the keyworker.

  • To enable the NTA to monitor and assess the effectiveness of the national drug treatment system.

  • To support commissioners and treatment providers in making improvements, where necessary in the local treatment system.

The TOP is asimple set of questions that will improve clinical practice by enhancing assessment and care plan reviews for clients. It should be completed at the start of each client's treatment journey to record a baseline of behaviour in the month leading up to starting a new treatment journey. Information regarding use of TOP and effectiveness of treatment is provided by the NTA. It is an essential element towards Buidling Recovery in Communities.
