    The district covers an area of 250 square miles and has a population of around 118,000 residents. It attracts over 5 million visitors each year.

    Winchester's major landmark is Winchester Cathedral, one of the largest cathedrals in Europe. Winchester itself has plenty of shopping and leisure opportunities, including a high street and shopping centre full of chain and boutique-style shops, Riverside Leisure Centre and the Winchester Royal Theatre.

    It boasts a plethora of places to eat and drink including award-winning restaurants from chefs such as Raymond Blanc, Rick Stein and Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.

    Also of interest are the Winchester Science Centre & Planetarium and Marwell Zoo.

    Outside of the city, Alresford is the proud home of the Mid Hants Railway, also known as the Watercress Line. Itchen Valley County Park is a popular location for a walks and family fun. Wickham hosts some beautiful walks, including the nearby Water Meadows and the start of the nine-mile Meon Valley Trail.
