Job/Person Summary

Learning Support Assistant (fixed term initially until 31.08.18)

Grade B from £9272.64 for 27.5 school hours per week, 39 working weeks per year

We are looking for an enthusiastic, flexible Learning Support Assistant (LSA 1) to join our caring and supportive team. The successful candidate should be a good communicator with well developed interpersonal skills and a flexible approach, as well as the ability to work within a team. SEN experience is desirable but not necessary. A commitment to supporting the opportunities and education of children with Special Educational Needs is essential.

The focus of your role will be supporting students who have learning difficulties; implementing 1:1 and small group intervention and supporting in the classroom to address individual learning needs.

The hours will be from 8.30am to 2.40pm Monday to Thursday; 8.30am to 2.05pm on Fridays plus 1 hour after school per week.

The role would equally suit people who have experience of working with young people, those returning to the workplace or those considering a career in teaching. If you are planning for a teaching career, a valuable stepping stone into the profession can be to take on a Learning Support Assistant role for a year or more to develop your understanding and confidence in a secondary school setting. This can be an extremely useful experience, and through our close links with Initial Teacher Training providers could be a supported process to a teaching career.

Closing Date: Friday 19 January 2018 (Noon)
Interview Date: w/c Monday 22 January 2018

The School reserves the right to interview before the closing date should a suitable candidate apply.
