Job Description

Responsibilities include:

• Working as part of a team
• Attending planning meetings
• Preparing medium and short term planning
• Attending staff meetings/ briefings and Inset as appropriate
• Implementing school record keeping and assessment procedures
• Managing support staff
• Liaising with parents
• Reporting to parents

Person Specification


1.Qualified Teacher Status
2.Experience of teaching in the Foundation Stage (particularly Reception) or in Key Stage 1
3.Experience of working with parents, support staff and the wider school community

Professional Knowledge and Skills:

4.Knowledge of current educational issues
5.Knowledge of the theory and practice in providing effective education
6.Ability to create a rich learning environment
7.Ability to plan for and assess the needs and achievements of all pupils and maintain appropriate records.
8.Ability to manage children in a positive and sensitive manner
9.A good knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage or National Curriculum
10.A commitment to equality of opportunity
