Supply Teaching
Ill Health Retirement
Teachers in receipt of ill health' benefits who retired after 1 April 1997 cannot be employed as supply teachers because ill health retirements from that date have been agreed on the basis that the teacher is permanently unfit to teach.
Teachers who retired before this change can be accepted onto the supply register if they can satisfy us of their fitness to resume teaching. This may involve an appointment with the Council's Medical Adviser.
Subsequent earnings from teaching necessitate adjustments to pension and the DCSF Infirmity Pension notes should be consulted.
