Support Staff in Schools
Hampshire Teaching and Leadership College (HTLC) are committed to creating opportunities to enable all support staff to achieve their full potential when supporting teaching and learning in Hampshire schools. HTLC aim to achieve this by; providing high quality appropriate training and development opportunities, developing accredited training, working with schools to deliver school-brokered cost effective training and providing clear, timely information to schools on national initiative such as Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status and Support Work in Schools (SWiS) qualifications. HTLC can offer schools; delivery of some courses on school premises, consultancy and advice, cost effective school-brokered training and support to schools in conducting training needs analysis and drawing up training plans for their support staff .

Learning Support staff
Learning support staff work with teachers in the classroom, helping pupils progress with their learning.
Cover Supervisors
Cover supervisors are suitably-trained school staff who supervise pupils when teaching staff are absent.
Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs)
HLTAs are experienced teaching assistants who plan and deliver learning activities under the direction of a teacher and assess, record and report on pupils’ progress. They may also manage other classroom-based staff or may supervise a class in a teacher's absence. Nursery Nurses
Nursery nurses work in co-operation with a teacher, looking after the social and educational development of children. Their work involves planning and supervising activities and keeping parents up-to-date with their child's progress.
Teaching assistants (TAs) / Learning Support Assistants (LSAs)
Teaching assistants work alongside teachers in the classroom, helping pupils with their learning on an individual or group basis. Some specialise in areas such as literacy, numeracy, special education needs, music, English as an additional language, and the creative arts.
