Hampshire Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (Hampshire EMTAS)
Hampshire EMTAS is a dedicated multiethnic and multilingual team, with over 20 years experience of working closely with Hampshire schools to remove barriers and inequalities in attainment and achievement. By working alongside you and using our specialist knowledge, we can help your school to improve educational outcomes for children and young people from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) and Traveller heritages, as well as those learning English as an additional language (EAL).
Through our specialist resources and support, we provide expert advice, guidance and training to help raise attainment and close the performance gap for these children and young people from BME and Traveller groups. We are constantly developing new ways of working with pupils and understand the importance of developing open and productive relationships with schools, parents, carers, children and young people.
Our approach is flexible and responsive, giving you the right level of support as and when you need it.
Recognised by Local Authorities across the country for our innovative approaches,
Hampshire EMTAS is also a leader in the field of isolated bilingual learners. Our book ‘Counting them in’ (ISBN 9787858564258) received the following review ‘Teachers working with isolated bilingual learners will find a good deal to help them in this highly practical book that is firmly rooted in extensive teaching and advisory experience.’ Educational Review
All our work is underpinned by the United Nations Convention for the Rights of the Child: particularly Articles 22, 29 and 30 and supported by continuous professional development and enhanced CRB disclosures.
