Hampshire Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS)

Phone-lines

Do you have recently arrived students in your school?

Then you will probably find our communication links useful. Their purpose is to provide an interpreting, translation and information service for schools, for parents with questions relating to the education system and for students with questions about their homework (or other educational matters).

Please call the numbers below if

  • You would like a bilingual assistant to relay a message to a parent/student with limited English
  • You would like to arrange a translation to be made, bearing in mind that translations require a great deal of skill and are therefore extremely time-consuming. (Letters/information which is standardised across a cluster/group of schools, or short, urgent notes or letters can often be translated free of charge.)
  • You would like information on the countries of origin of your students, their customs or language.

EMTAS Phonelines – term time only

Please ring us on our helplines if you would like information about anything in this pack, or if you have any questions relating to your child’s education or well-being. All our assistants speak good English so, if you can use even a little English, you can call at any of the times listed below. If you need an interpreter for any other language just ring or email with your contact details and the language you speak and we will do our best to help you.
