Hampshire Ethnic Minority and Traveller Achievement Service (EMTAS)

EMTAS Service

The Hampshire Ethnic Minority & Traveller Achievement Service (Hampshire EMTAS) is part of Children's Services within Hampshire County Council. The EMTAS vision is to raise the achievement of ethnic minority pupils including those for whom English is an additional language by providing support to schools and parents across Hampshire. The service achieves this through training, achievement projects, specialist teaching and bilingual assistance. The service works with pupils from black and minority ethnic backgrounds including pupils from Gypsy, Roma Traveller communities and pupils for whom English is an additional language to ensure they develop the skills and understanding required to access all areas of the curriculum whilst maintaining their cultural identifies.  EMTAS assists in the promotion of home-school links and parental engagement and service staff work alongside school staff to promote race equality and tackle racism.
