Training for Newly Qualified Teachers (NQTs)
We are able to support NQTs in a variety of ways. We attend the annual Hampshire NQT conference in Winchester, where we are available to distribute resources, offer advice or deal with specific queries. Information about the service is included in the Hampshire NQT information pack. Come and talk to us at this event.
We are able to deliver training which addresses the QTS Standards in relation to EAL and Ethnic Minority Achievement (EMA). We can also provide new teachers with a local profile of ethnic minority pupils and communities in Hampshire, for example which ethnic groups are currently at greatest risk of underachieving, languages spoken, sources of support. We are happy to offer this at a county or school level.
From time to time, it may also be possible for an NQT to shadow a member of our staff or one of our leading teachers in EAL, in order to observe support strategies and aspects of good practice in more detail.
