Information and guidance for schools
Produced by the Muslim Council of Britain, this guidance for schools on meeting the needs of Muslim pupils takes a comprehensive look at various issues that schools may encounter in relation to their Muslim communities.
School staff should note that Muslim pupils and their families observe their faith in different ways and the recommended approach is to:
be open to discussion
be flexible and sensitive when considering requests for adaptations/concessions
treat all requests on a case-by-case basis – a one-size-fits-all approach is unlikely to be successful
work with staff to ensure provision is fully inclusive and takes into account the needs of all pupils in the school community
seek further advice from EMTAS or from the HIAS RE team where necessary.
