Funding
Funding to schools for NQT Induction is a contribution to the costs borne by the school in providing induction, e.g. the cost of NQTs/Tutors attending courses and providing cover for them during non-contact time, meetings or courses. It is not a ‘pot’ of money for an NQT to spend as they wish.
Hampshire allocates the funding according to numbers of NQTs employed at each school. The amounts for the 2008/9 academic year are £1143 per full-time NQT per term (on a pro-rata basis for part-time NQTs or those who begin induction midway through a term). This amount usually increases every April.
The funding is authorised by EPS but paid by External Funding, Education Finance. At about half term we send to Finance lists of all NQTs registered for that term and whose QTS certificate has been seen. Finance then notifies the school of the amount of funding you will receive.
