Remodelling and the National Agreement
School Staffing Structures
Over recent years, Governing Bodies of maintained schools have had to review the staffing arrangements of the school to facilitate remodelling and the introduction of teaching and leadership responsibility payments. This required Headteachers and Governing Bodies to work in close partnership with staff and representative of the recognised trade unions and to work to prescribed timescales to devise a management structure which focused on the needs within the individual school including school improvement priorities.
It is expected that occasionally schools will wish to further review these structures as a result of changes in those priorities. Where schools are in this situation, EPS consultants should be contacted as an identical process must be followed. EPS consultants should also be contacted where remodelling is leading to a review of a particular function within the school and leading to either a re-organisation or reallocation of duties and/or it is proposed that a new structure is introduced.
