If your employer encourages people to become governors and makes it easier for them to carry out the role eg. by being flexible about working hours or allowing phone calls in work time, shouldn't they be thanked? You can nominate your company to receive an award from Hampshire County Council by using the form. Employers receive a certificate and plaque to display in the workplace and a representative plus the governor who nominated them are invited to a prestigious lunch with county councillors, usually at the end of the autumn term. If we ensure those who support their local community are recognised for their contribution perhaps more will follow suit.
