Resolving Complaints [GT112]
Who will benefit? Governors from all schools.
What will you learn? This course will look at the headteacher's and governing body's role and powers when handling both 'informal' and 'formal' complaints from parents and other members of the community. This doesn t seem important until you re trying to deal with a tricky situation but such complaints are on the increase and you need to be prepared. HCC experience is that governors make the situation worse if they act inappropriately in the early stages. Case studies based on real complaints will be used to illustrate effective practice. This course does not cover staff grievance procedures (for that see Strategic Personnel & Employment Practices GT131)
Attendance options? One evening session.
