Curriculum Matters - Primary [GT138]

Who will benefit? All governors from infant, junior and primary schools.

What will you learn? These events look at an area of the school curriculum so that governors may be well informed about current issues. Inspectors or other tutors will present curriculum topics relevant to the responsibilities of governors. The topic for this year will be Literacy. English sits at the heart of learning. It lies at the centre of culture and development of the individual. Not only does English seek to equip learners with the necessary social and cognitive tools to interact with and interpret the ever-changing world, but also to shape it and in doing so, English shapes each individual learner. A number of important changes have taken place in English over the last couple of years. This training will bring governors up to date with these changes and will support governors in fulfilling their statutory obligations. The evening will be an interesting exploration of English within the primary sector.
