Training and meeting opportunities

There are a range of training and meeting opportunities available to support you in your Healthy Schools work.

Core Training opportunities

The core training consists of two full days.

Day 1

Day 1 is an introduction to the whole-school approach to the Healthy Schools programme. Schools who have not attended in the past will be automatically invited. Places are also made available to schools who feel they would benefit from attending, eg: where there has been a change of staff responsibility for Healthy Schools and/or Healthy Schools work has 'stalled'.

Forthcoming Day 1 training dates

  • Healthy Schools Briefing (Day 1 Phase 17) (PS010) – 10 October 2008
  • Healthy Schools Briefing (Day 1 Phase 18) (PS012) – 13 February 2009

Day 2

This conference focuses on the four themed areas and gives delegates the opportunity to reflect on current protocols, practices and projects in their school. A wide range of resources are made available, including links with external partners who can help support their work.

Forthcoming Day 2 training dates

  • Healthy Schools Themed Area Conference (Day 2 Phase 17) (PS011) – 16 January 2009
  • Healthy Schools Themed Area Conference (Day 2 Phase 18) (PS013) – 15 May 2009

Additional training opportunities

Many Healthy Schools courses are offered free or subsidised to schools who are working towards achieving validation or revalidation. Please note, however, that an administration fee will be charged to schools where booked places are not attended.

Healthy Schools Network Meetings

Network meetings run four to six times a term across the county. They offer a perfect opportunity to have access to up-to-date infomation and training. Additionally, Healthy Schools managers can 'buddy up' with each other, which is an excellent way of accessing continuous support and sharing good practice. Members of the HIAS Healthy Schools team are also available to offer support and guidance.
