Hub Scholars & Other Awards

An exciting new initiative to support young Hampshire musicians who show potential to develop their instrumental, vocal or compositional skills through individual tuition. Lessons will be provided by an HMS teacher and are intended to give pupils the opportunity for specialist tuition which they wouldn’t otherwise have access to.

Successful hub scholars will be entitled to 15 hours of specialist tuition with an HMS teacher and will have the opportunity to take part in additional musical events and performances. Small groups and chamber ensembles are actively encouraged.

Please do have a look below for more details and how to apply...

Instrumental & Vocal

The scheme is intended for pupils in year 11 or below who have already demonstrated a high level of musical ability.
It provides opportunities for students who wish to excel in their chosen musical field as instrumentalists, singers or composers. Hampshire Hub Scholars will be able to access music tuition which would otherwise be unavailable to them, either through individual specialist  lessons or chamber ensemble coaching.

Successful applicants will be expected to provide feedback on their experiences on an annual basis, and to represent the Hampshire Music Education Hub in both formal and informal performances throughout the academic year.

Deadline for applications: usually at the end of April

Dayas Fund

This is an annual grants scheme administered by Hampshire County Council - set up from a sum of money left by Mrs Hayton (nëe Dayas), a former Hampshire teacher, in her will.

These music scholarships give the chance for people, over 18 years of age,  to seek support to have lessons either for new musical interests or to help them refresh previously learned musical skills in singing or playing an instrument. Applications are also welcomed from those wanting to further develop skills in areas such as composition, conducting and performance.
