Vocal Opportunities

The Curriculum Team includes a vocal co-ordinator, Anne George, who works across the County on specific projects to promote and to raise the profile of singing in schools. The range of provision offered includes:

Vocal workshops
These workshops are available for developing or extending your choir, and culminate in a performance opportunity. Visits will be established with the vocal coordinator to encourage targets to be set. Workshops take place during school time, with the opportunity for the teacher to meet with the coordinator after the contact with the choir. Details will be sent to schools as appropriate.

Area vocal projects
These are offered to clusters of schools and involve working with class teachers and their pupils to develop the quality of the teaching of singing. Projects culminate with a vocal festival for all participating schools to give pupils an exciting musical experience.

Vocal booklet Singing at Key Stages 1 and 2
This publication contains further information on singing technique and resources. A copy was sent free of charge to Hampshire primary schools when first produced. If you would like to purchase replacement or additional copies please ring the Hampshire Music Service on 023 8065 2037, or complete and return the curriculum documentation order form.

Song of the week!
This is a brand new resource for Hampshire primary schools. Each week of term you can explore a new song to use in the classroom or with your choir. Our team of vocal specialists have carefully selected and written songs to suit primary voices which are easy to use regardless of your singing experience. You will find songs from lots of different genres, some unaccompanied and others with backing tracks and there will always be a ‘sing along’ track with our easy to use PowerPoint to help with learning the song. Each song will also have a ‘ hints and tips’ page with further ideas so that you can explore the song in as little or as much detail as you like! For more info and the 'Week 1 Taster'...

For further details on any of the opportunities above, please contact the Primary Curriculum Administrator, Tel: 023 8065 2037.
