A French Horn for Ethan
Ethan Molloy became the 1,000th pupil to benefit from Hampshire County Council’s Music Service instrument hire initiative this week. Eight year old Ethan visited the Hampshire Music Service offices at Eastleigh to collect the French Horn, along with his Mum, Lorna. Ethan has just started to learn to play the French Horn and proudly took possession of his instrument. His mother Lorna said, "I’m delighted that Ethan has this opportunity to learn music because it’s so much cheaper to hire compared with the cost of actually buying a French Horn"
Hampshire Music Service introduced the hire scheme last year and offers a wide range of instruments for a hire fee of £15 per term. The scheme has received a very positive review from parents. The only proviso is that the child must receive tuition from a Hampshire Music Service tutor.
The Instrument Hire scheme forms part of a comprehensive range of instrumental and vocal services that Hampshire Music Service provides to over 400 schools and colleges and 55,000 children in Hampshire.
