You Should Bring To Every Electric Bass Lesson

  • A4 ring binder to put your music in

  • HMS Pupil Record book and a pencil

  • Electric Bass

  • Rock Foundation Book and CD

  • Set of strings - sometimes they break

  • Guitar lead

Useful Optional Extras

  • Cassette recorder+mic - make your own recordings/backings - v. useful learning tool

  • Drum box or electronic metronome - for building technique. Built in to keyboards

  • Using an amplifier? - get a Power Breaker - if anything goes wrong, it cuts off the power before you get a shock

  • Playing in a band? - wear earplugs, or you'll damage your hearing

  • Electronic tuner - it takes practice to tune up without one. Multieffects have one built in / tuition CDs give tuning notes

You Will Be Expected To:

  • Practice for a minimum of 20-30 mins per day, every day, and record it in your record book

  • Keep music sheets in your ring binder and bring them to every lesson

  • Make sure you understand the timetable - lessons times vary each week

  • Arrange absences from other classes, return promptly to them, and make up any work missed

  • If you miss any lessons, find out that week's practice and do it

THE AMOUNT YOU LEARN DEPENDS ON THE PRACTICE YOU DO ON YOUR OWN - IT IS NOT ENOUGH JUST TO COME TO THE LESSONS
