Hampshire Music Service: Provision for Special Schools
A range of opportunities is available for Hampshire Special Schools through the Special team, whose members include:

1. All Special Schools are able to access the following activities with no charges to individual schools participating in them:
- The Special Celebration at Christmas
- Hampshire Music Service Newsletters to Special Schools - Curriculum issues and opportunities
2. In addition the Hampshire Music Service’s new SLA has a Special Schools’ Annual Subscription which enables Special Schools to decide which other aspects of the complete provision for curriculum music they wish to access. There is currently a minimum cost of £300 per financial year, and schools select from a range of credits, with each credit provided at a different cost. All Hampshire special schools receive information in the spring term each year. This includes:
- Special Curriculum credit
CPD courses for teachers
Special schools' publications
Consultation visit - a half day visit in response to specific need, e.g. advice, support, facilitating arts week, supporting local school networks
Music for Communication - developing emotional literacy twilight workshop - Primary Curriculum credit
Primary Project courses
Primary Project publications Conferences credit
Especially Music Conference - one place- Provision for pupils credit
Special event
Primary Special Event - original musical composed annually on a specific theme
Secondary Special Event - 'Rock my World' - a special rock experience for secondary age pupils
Access to sets of instruments:
Samba; African percussion; Tuned percussion; Music technology; Junk percussion
3. Schools may also purchase the following, at usual additional costs:
- Inspection and advice visits from a member of the Curriculum Team
- Soundbeam workshops ·
- Instrumental and class teaching
- Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra workshops
