Professional development
Professional development is central to school improvement. It is an entitlement that enriches and rewards our professionalism and impacts positively on the attainment of pupils and their enjoyment of learning. This is because where it is effective it has exactly the same impact on the teachers involved.
What is continuing professional development? (CPD)
‘CPD is relevant to all teachers. It is about making progress in the teaching profession — increasing the teachers' skills, knowledge and understanding as outlined in the professional standards for teachers.’ Teachernet
In progressing through their careers, all school staff benefit from numerous opportunities for continuing professional development - training and support to increase skills, knowledge and understanding.
This site provides details of training events, learning opportunities and specialist information to help staff improve their effectiveness in current and future roles. Adult learning is most effective when there are opportunities to:
- reflect
- network
- practice
- give and receive feedback
The provision we offer gives access to all of the above.
