Educational Visits Coordinator InitialTraining

This is DCSF and Outdoor Education Advisers’ Panel accredited national training related to Hampshire, Portsmouth and Southampton.

These courses are for establishments that need to replace their EVC or would like a further member of staff to attend and become accredited.

These very successful induction days have recently been considerably updated, whilst continuing to cover all the essential core elements of the national and local requirements. They also provide a very suitable refresher day for those who trained some time ago.

Aims of the day

  1. to understand the functions of the EVC

  2. roles and responsibilities

  3. managing visits

  4. risk and safety management

  5. supervision and leadership

  6. supporting others and providing information

  7. to understand what the EVC needs to know and do, and where to get support

  8. to understand why the role is important and how it operates

  9. to enable others to take a very positive view of the current situation and opportunities available

  10. to promote development and to establish a support structure

EVC Refresher Courses

These courses are for existing EVCs who wish to be brought up to date with current regulations, guidance and initiatives, as well as have the opportunity to ask questions and share current experiences.

EVCs should attend an update course every three years or discuss their current requirements with the County Inspector: Outdoor Education.

Aims of the morning (9.30-12.30)

  • to bring EVCs up to date with current practice

  • to review and discuss current issues

  • to inform about current initiatives and support process

All EVC courses can now be booked through the Learning Zone - look under Safety Management.
