Primary school camping – on the school site

Completion of this course will qualify participants to have access to the local pool of tents and stoves. If interested please contact Tile Barn Campsite on 01590 623160.

Course content

  • an introduction to the pool and camping equipment maintained and available for school site camping
  • siting, erecting and dismantling tents; tent care
  • sleeping arrangements and staying warm
  • simple risk assessment and group management
  • further opportunities.

Course objectives

  • to give staff the confidence to camp on their own site or that of a neighbouring school (a directory of schools which may be used is available)
  • to provide information on regulations, guidance and support.

Food Hygiene Course for Outdoor Leaders

Do you cook for groups? Camp or stay in residential centres? Worried that groups will get food poisoning? Cookout is running a food hygiene course tailored to outdoor leaders, to ensure groups prepare and serve safe food.

The course will cover food safety laws, food poisoning - what it is and how to prevent it, cooking and chilling foods, personal hygiene, organisation of kitchen and cleaning. Based on the Level 2 Award in Food Safety by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health, you will obtain a nationally recognised certificate.
