Course content

coverage of the syllabus and requirements of the award
riding skills and techniques over varied terrain
route planning and navigation
risk assessment strategies and group management
equipment choice, maintenance and care
further developments and support possibilities.

Course objectives

to successfully fulfil the award’s requirements
to provide confidence and competence in leading others
through the terrain chosen
using the skills and techniques required.

Course one: Hampshire region

Levels 1 and 2

This is a training and assessment course using the local region, run in conjunction with the Mountain Bike Instructor Award Scheme (MIAS), which is recognised by AALA:

agreed cycle routes
New Forest
South Downs
countryside sites (QE Country Park etc).
