Angling
Hampshire County Council Angling Award: sheltered water
This is a one day course to qualify existing leaders (teachers, youth workers, NVQ3 or equivalent, i.e. those able to take the pastoral care of young people) to manage groups in either:
coarse/freshwater fishing in sheltered water, or
sea fishing in sheltered water, or
both (two days).
Note: The participant will have to hold the Outdoor Leader (Open Country) Award and will need to be an experienced angler.
The ratio will be a maximum of 1:8.
Course content
Individual and Group management in these contexts
risk assessment and risk management issues and strategies; safe operational procedures
key equipment preparation and use
key skills introduction and development
chance to discuss issues with a coach tutor
Course objectives
to be able to manage individuals or groups successfully
to understand risk management in this context
to be able to set clear operational procedures and supervise them
to understand how to introduce and develop the activity.
Level 2 angling coaching award
(national award)
This is a full five-day nationally accredited award, led by a very experienced local coach tutor. It covers all aspects of the syllabus. Details to follow!
