Explore the potential of learning and playing beyond the classroom
Hampshire County Council supports individuals, schools and settings in maximising their potential for outdoor learning, sports and play, and ultimately achieving outstanding outdoor provision.
We believe in providing young people with active, challenging and exciting experiences to help them learn and develop via the outdoor classroom. The service supports all teachers engaged with such work, allowing for safe, confident practise, to achieve positive outcomes.
When choosing an outdoor centre for learning or enjoying physical activities you can rest assured that a visit to one of our Hampshire centres will be of a high standard, safe, friendly and educational. The staff are experts in their fields and help you put a programme together.
HCC manages two Key Stage Two educational study centres at Minstead (New Forest) and Stubbington. Both centres provide residential courses in curriculum led outdoor and environmental learning, meeting a range of subject and school priorities.
An exciting award scheme providing a structure and accreditation for outside the classroom activities. Involvement provides access to a wide range of resources and training promoting and developing outdoor learning: in the school grounds, or further afield.
The Community Engagement and Learning Team works closely with teachers and communities to deliver lively formal and informal learning programmes, that support the development of young peoples skills and knowledge using the County’s rich arts and museums resource.
Formal and informal learning opportunities at our many country parks and sites. Experienced and dedicated staff work closely with teachers for effective planning and delivery. Learning activities are regularly monitored and evaluated and all sites hold the Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.
We enable schools to tap into the real potential of their site. Whether you are starting from scratch, or are building on past developments, our skilled and experienced team can enable you to move forward effectively and achieve long term success.
We will help schools to promote the health and well being of all pupils, raise achievement, strengthen global citizenship and encourage sustainability within and beyond the school.
Issues with congestion, obesity or safety? We can help your school with bespoke measures (dependent on location and funding) including updating your travel plan, scooter/cycle training, postcode mapping, and more, to promote and enable safe, sustainable travel to and from school.
Our free Schools Recycling Programme is delivered directly to pupils through a series of hands-on sessions which encourage increased recycling awareness and activity. We can help your school reduce waste and save money through tailored initiatives providing a lasting impact.
