Health and Safety
In all of our work we are conscious of the very great responsibility we bear for the well being of the thousands of children who visit Stubbington Study Centre. We care deeply that we provide both a quality and a safe experience.
As with any job where contact with children is required, all our staff undergo a thorough CRB check before being cleared to work. All visiting adults on site are asked to sign in and out at reception.
Security
At night dormitory doors are locked from the outside, doors can still be exited from the inside in the case of a fire. Teaching staff will be able to access the dormitories through a central, code padded door.

Fire
The Centre maintains a comprehensive fire risk assessment and regularly requests inspections by fire officers to ensure that we maintain the highest standards of fire safety. All visitors complete a fire drill on the first day of their visit. All areas of the centre are covered by a fire alarm system.
Risk Assessment
During their stay children will complete a wide range of activities, all of which have been comprehensively assessed for the likelihood of an accident and its potential severity. We aim to minimise all identified risks and yet allow visitors the freedom to safely explore the Study Centre grounds. All activities are planned by experienced and trained members of staff. Any visiting leaders asked to lead an activity will be fully briefed and made aware of all Health and Safety issues.
Child Protection
We fully recognise the contribution we make to Child Protection. All staff at the centre are CRB checked and our policy is updated regularly.

First Aid
Stubbington Study centre has two Welfare Assistants, one for morning and one for evening. The Welfare Assistants are on site to help with administering first aid and with children who feel ill. There are also a number of other staff who are first aid trained should the need arise. For off-site visits to the beach, staff will carry smaller first aid kits to ensure safety off-site.
Emergency Support
Overnight, teachers have access to an internal phone and a list of emergency contact numbers for Centre staff, on-call during the children’s stay.
