Booking for 2012-2013

Sports Courses

We now have places available for our summer Sports Course weeks for 2012. Our Sports Courses take place in the first 2 weeks of summer holidays. Children have the opportunity to stay at Stubbington for the week, taking part in a wide variety of sports all led by staff and visiting coaches, many of whom are qualified teachers. The cost for 2012 is £140 for week A and £175 for week B. This price includes all the activities, the children’s accommodation and their food for the week. New accommodation plans 2012-2013

Having undertaken a lengthy consultation process with teachers, children, head teachers, other users, officers from Hampshire County Council and staff, plans for our new accommodation blocks are nearing completion!

You told us that you wanted:

  • More modern toilet and shower facilities
  • Greater autonomy with your children in the evenings
  • Avoid having to take responsibility for children form other schools overnight
  • Better teacher accommodation - especially for those supervising the children over night.
  • Better accessibility for children & others with disabilities

The service also needs

  • More flexible accommodation to meet the needs of a wider user group
  • More modern and energy efficient buildings to help reduce costs and be more environmentally friendly

The plans we are developing incorporate the above aspirations.

The new dormitory blocks will provide smaller bedrooms, each housing 6 beds and with a dedicated toilet and shower room.

Teachers' / leaders' bedrooms will be included throughout the building at a ratio of one leaders' room to every two children's rooms.

Teachers / leaders' bedrooms will include shower and washing facilities and there will be designated staff toilets.

The dormitories will include "breakout" spaces, where individual schools will be able to bring their children together e.g. for night time activities

Accessible toilet/shower rooms will be available throughout the accommodation.

Building work is provisionally due to commence Autumn 2012, with an outline completion date of January 2013. Timescales change with any building project(!) and so we are unable to give concrete dates at this stage. The good news is that the centre will not need to close during construction work, which will be undertaken in a segregated compound on site.

This project heralds a new era for Stubbington Study Centre which has been delivering high quality residential experiences to children since the 1930's. We are confident that it will ensure the continued success of this service, bringing learning to  life for generations to come.
