Holiday Pay
Supply teachers' pay rate is based on the statutory contractual terms for teachers. Teachers have a 52 week contract, so we calculate the daily rate on the basis of a teacher's actual working year (195 days) as opposed to the full year (365 days). In this way a full pro-rata entitlement to leave is included in the calculated rate. You will not receive any additional salary during the holiday periods because your contractual entitlement, which is in excess of your statutory entitlement, to holiday pay is included in your normal hourly rate.
In this way a teacher on salary scale point M3 will earn a salary of £24 048 per annum. A teacher on a full time contract will be paid on the basis of a 365 day year so will receive a daily rate of (24 048 / 365) £65.88 Because your pay takes into account holiday periods you are paid on the basis of a 195 day year so your daily rate on the same scale point would be (24 048 / 195) £123.32
