What Hampshire Offers You!
You’ll love living in Hampshire!
Hampshire is one of the largest, most beautiful and diverse counties in the UK. From historic Winchester and Romsey to the New Forest, its outstanding natural beauty is unrivalled. Combining this with the bustling atmospheres of Andover, Basingstoke and Aldershot, Hampshire really does have it all. It's a healthy place to live with an excellent record on clean air and the environment.
From the south coast you can catch ferries to France, Spain and the Isle of Wight; Southampton Airport has flights to approximately 47 destinations across the UK and mainland Europe; to the east Chichester and Brighton are within easy reach; to the west are main routes to Dorset, Devon and Cornwall; and to the north both London and Oxford are only short distances away with good road and rail links.
And you’ll love teaching in Hampshire!
Hampshire is the perfect environment in which to develop your teaching career. The support and diversity of opportunity available to experienced teachers are second to none. The Local Authority will ensure that you get all the tools you need to progress your skills and take your career forward in one of the country's most innovative and encouraging Education Authorities.
Hampshire schools are encouraged to acknowledge their success by working towards accreditation for various awards. Many Primary Schools have been awarded, or are working towards, the Basic Skills Quality Mark and the Healthy Schools Award, which is supported by the curriculum for PSHE. The Healthy Schools Award encourages a proactive approach towards a healthy lifestyle and to making children, teachers, parents and communities more aware of the opportunities in schools for improving health. Several secondary schools have specialist status such as sports, languages or technology. Hampshire Local Authority encourages schools to work towards Investors in People attainment.
